From film productions and tv dramas to factual programming and photoshoots, Brunel’s SS Great Britain welcomes all enquiries for commercial filming, photography, and location hire.

Our site offers a variety of both historic and modern locations, including:

  • A 19th century dockyard complex
  • Victorian Grade II listed buildings
  • A 19th century historic ship providing various period settings (including an opulent dining room, galley kitchen, engine room, and both upper and lower class cabins)
  • Versatile conference spaces suitable for use as green rooms
  • Museum interiors with large public areas (including galleries and a library with spiral staircase)
  • Modern office spaces

Directly adjacent to Brunel’s SS Great Britain is also the Albion Dockyard which comprises a working shipyard, Grade II listed dock, and industrial warehouses.

All sites are located in the heart of Bristol’s harbourside, offering some of the most spectacular views in the region, and ideal for film, tv, photoshoots, live recording and more.

Winner of the City of Film Award in 2024, Bristol is home to iconic production companies such as Aardman Animations and BBC’s Natural History Unit, and has been the setting for countless films and TV series such as Skins, The Outlaws and Doctor Who.

Facilities include:

  • Car park with approx. 150 spaces
  • Fully accessible main site (see our Access for All pages for more information)
  • Easy access to full utilities (including power, running water, and Wi-Fi)
  • Versatile green rooms of varying sizes across site
  • On site caterers who can arrange hospitality, especially during out of hours filming

The SS Great Britain Trust is a registered charity which manages Brunel’s SS Great Britain and maintains the collections. The money raised from location fees goes towards the conservation of the heritage items in our collection as well as supporting our other vital charitable work.
