Join us this February half term for Mr Brunel’s Big Day Out!
Step into the shoes of one of the greatest engineers of all time for a day packed with adventure. Whether you’re tackling hands-on challenges as Brunel’s apprentice, uncovering his achievements in the Being Brunel museum or meeting the man himself for an interactive talk on board the ship, there’s something for every curious young explorer.
Become Brunel’s Apprentice ⚙️
Do you have what it takes to be an expert engineer? Put your problem solving and imagination skills to the test as you follow the map and use Brunel’s instructions to complete each activity. Grab an apprentice satchel from our Visitor Centre to start your adventure.

Take a Curiosity Quest ❓
Get hands-on with interactives in the Being Brunel museum to uncover stories about the great engineer and his amazing projects. Collect your Curiosity Quest fortune teller on the day to start exploring or click here to download ahead of your visit.

Create your own masterpiece 🚢
Brunel designed daring tunnels, beautiful bridges and the magnificent SS Great Britain. Now it’s your turn to create a masterpiece with Brunel’s Brick Building! What will you invent? Head to the Viridor Theatre to start your invention.
Available all day throughout February half term except for Monday 17 Feb.
Meet the great engineer himself 🎩
Join Mr. Brunel on board the SS Great Britain for an interactive talk as he shares the incredible stories behind his greatest inventions. Find out how he changed the world with seemingly impossible ideas and take the chance to ask him your own questions!
Available Monday 17 Feb – Friday 21 Feb inclusive. Talks last 20 minutes and take place at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3pm on board the ship on the Promenade Deck.

All activities are included for free with admission. Already have annual tickets? No need to book, just turn up on the day with your tickets.
